FamilyFarmed.org’s mission is to expand the production, marketing and distribution of locally grown and responsibly produced food in order to enhance the social, economic and environmental health of our communities.
The purpose of the Good Food Festival & Conference is to link some of the best local farmers and family-owned producers of food and farm products with the public, trade buyers and leaders in the field to foster relationships that facilitate the growth of local food systems. FamilyFarmed.org now works with many of the nation’s largest buyers of local food including Whole Foods Market, Sysco, Compass Group, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Goodness Greeness, and others to connect them with local food sources.
FamilyFarmed.org is nationally recognized for “growing the market” for local and sustainable food. In 2009, FamilyFarmed.org published Wholesale Success: A Farmer’s Guide to Selling, Post Harvest Handling, and Packing Produce. The 256-page 4-color manual gives detailed easy-to-read information targeted to a farmer audience on topics such as food safety, pricing, building relationships with buyers, and calculating return on investment.
FamilyFarmed.org has also helped to lauch three operating food hubs to aggregate and sell produce from local farmers to wholesale markets and is a leading national consultant in food hub development.
