Laura Avery has been Santa Monica Farmers Market Manager and Farmers Market Program Director for over 30 years. The Santa Monica Farmers Markets are widely recognized as among the best in the US, and the Wednesday market was just named LA Weekly’s “Best In LA.” Laura has expanded the Santa Monica Farmers Markets’ education and outreach activities through local, state and national partnerships. In 1997 she helped to introduce a Farmers Market Salad Bar program to the Santa Momica School District, where all sixteen schools now offer fresh produce sourced from the farmers market as a lunch alternative. Santa Monica’s four farmers markets are home to over 150 California small family farms and serve nearly one million customers per year.
